Since the Church Point Courir went
the opposite direction on its route than in previous years, the arrival time at Jim and
Betty David's home was after 12 p.m. The Mardi Gras charged down the long entrance way and
then assembled in front of Jim's barn, where they danced and caroused. One Mardi Gras was
dressed as Zorro, and Dr. Ty Hargroder, a co-capitaine, can be seen balanced atop his
horse. The Mardi Gras shown in the bottom
photo is an LSUE student who offered this pose only after successfully begging the
photographer for money.
